History of Primrose Hill
Primrose Hill (Previously named Greenberry hill) is well known in London for the hill of the same name where one can enjoy fantastic panoramic views all over London. In 1678, this primarily rural area came to fame in 1678 with the murder of Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey. Like many areas in London, it was primarily developed in the 19th century during the industrial revolution and the population growth that ensued. Because it is a conservation area, Primrose Hill has preserved its leafy character. The hill has been a favourite picnic spot people travel to from all over London to enjoy the views. The hill used to be covered with primroses and takes its name from the flowers.
Primrose hill is a favourite place of residence for famous people. It has many upmarket shops and a good choice of pubs and restaurants. The many garden Victorian houses command very high prices. It is also very close to Camden, Belsize Park and Regents Park and only a mile or so from the West End making it very easy for residents to find places to go out in the evening while living in a calm village like area.
