History of Fulham
The origins of the name Fulham are uncertain and different theories have been put forward. In the 9th century, the dabnes settled there for a winter during their invasion. In 1886, the earl of Essex during his pursuit of Charles 1 made a bridge of boats to cross the river in 1642. the area had mansions in the 17th and 18th centuries.
During the 18th century, Fulham also became an area of debauchery for the wealthy and was known for its gambling and prostitution.
In the first half of the 20th century, Fulham was a working class area, but it became more middle class after the second world war. Today, Fulham is one of the most expensive parts of London. It has many bars and restaurants and a great choice of boutiques. There is a wide choice of properties ranging from 1 bed flats (often in terrace conversions) to garden terraced houses. It is particularly attractive to young professionals
