Property Fitzrovia

Property for sale or rent in Fitzrovia W1

Fitzrovia is named after the Fitzroy Tavern in Charlotte Street. These days it’s also known as Noho, as in North Soho, and in fact is almost as bohemian as its more southerly counterpart, with plenty of fine restaurants, nightlife, galleries and a real buzz of TV and media agencies.

Much of Fitzrovia was developed by minor landowners, leading to a preponderance of small and irregular but charming streets. Today it still has a village feel about it, and despite being so central, has relatively few tourists.
Local landmarks include the Pollock Toy Museum and the Post Office Tower, and the British Museum is just a stone’s throw away.

Famous Fitzrovia residents have included the artists John Constable and James McNeil Whistler, plus William Blake. George Bernard Shaw and Virginia Woolf even lived in the same house on Fitzroy Square (although not, we are assured, together).

Properties in Fitzrovia

Fitzrovia has some fine Georgian houses, as well as mews properties, although apartment blocks and attractive flats for sale or rent are more widely available.

Commercial rents are also more affordable than on the other side of Oxford Street, making it a magnet for many businesses.
