Crusaid’s vision is a world where people living with HIV and AIDS can live with dignity and have a decent quality of life.
Crusaid already funds four community centres in improverished areas in South Africa where HIV and AIDS are endemic and the health services avaialable are overwhelmed or non-existent. These lifelines are called "Points of Light"
"Outlet - helping to rebuild lives"
Outlet are extremely proud to be one of the main supporters and sponsors of the the annual charity event called the Wig Party. Outlet and the Wig Party aims to bring Points of Light to orphaned children in their darkest times. This annual charity event hopes to build several more of these lifesaving centres across Zambia.
In Zambia, HIV and AIDS has robbed over 700,000 children of their parents. Alone, in poverty and lacking an education, every day is a struggle to earn a little money for food. Sadly, they all too often lose. In this devastating landscape of pain, hunger, disease and poverty, Crusaid's Points of Light projects are beacons of hope.
Each project offers children affected by HIV and AIDS a safe place to go, where they can get the food and support they need to survive. Our specially trained carers also provide educational support, bereavement counselling, teach them vital life skills and ensure they always have someone to turn to during their darkest times.
The director of Outlet, Joshua Rafter very recently visited Katete in the east of Zambia to meet the people and children whose lives we seek to improve. He is extremely pleased to report back that a Ponits of Light (POL) is already in the process of being established funded by the incredible success of last year's Wig Party (2008). Read More Here
With yet another successful Wig Party held in October 2009 we are extremely proud to announce that £41,667.27 has so far been raised and we now have the funding to start planning a second POL unit in Zambia.
Together, we can save the lives of children affected by HIV and AIDS – changing their futures for the better.
